Dear Osi Umenyiora,
Well, the offseason is here and I see you haven’t wasted any time letting us realize it.
Every offseason one of my first thoughts is always, “What is Osi going to complain about this year?”
Don’t get me wrong. I love you! You’re one of my favorite players. You are one of those guys that makes game changing plays every single Sunday.
But enough is enough. I’m tired of hearing you complain every offseason that you deserve more money.
Do I agree you deserve more? Of course! You’re one of thes best defensive ends in the league. Do I have a problem if you ask for more money? No way. It’s your money. You’re allowed to ask for a raise.
So what do I have a problem with? My issue is you making it a distraction every year. I’m tired of opening the paper every morning and seeing an article about you demanding more money, or threatening to sue the team, and other nonsense.
Do me a favor. Let Jerry Reese first focus on collecting a few free agents to help make your defense stronger next season. Keep your demands discrete. We, the fans, don’t want to hear about them.
We have more important things on our minds. Who are they going to sign this year? Who are they going to lose? How are they going to repeat? Who’s injured? Who’s healthy?
We don’t want to hear about your begging for more money.
Fans love you, Osi. Remember that. Don’t let your disputes become a part of our sports news. We don’t want to hear about it.
You say you will stay quiet this offseason. Please keep that promise.
